Surviving Vs Thriving

Surviving vs. Thriving – Where are you and where do you want to be?

Many of us go through life day by day not even really thinking about if we are surviving or thriving. We have things to do, people to see, work to be done and plans to make. We go through the motions and don’t even stop to think if we are where we want to be in life. Or know that when we do stop to think about it, we won’t like what we see.

Living day by day is a safe way to approach life. Living day by day is not easy to do. Many of us live in the past while criticizing our mistakes and dwelling on what could have been. Some of us live in the future wishing things were different, we were different, had something better to look forward to. Very few live in the present, day by day. Living in the present is the difference between surviving and thriving!

You know you are surviving when:

· you are coping with your life the way it is.

· you settle for nothing better than the passing of time. The slower, the better.

· You continue to miss the opportunities to learn from a mistake.

· You carry on day after day without motivation.

· You manage to get yourself through the day and collapse with emotional exhaustion.

Surviving is very acceptable for some, and can be really difficult for those dealing with emotional baggage that drains us even while we sleep. Your goal is to exist, nothing more. For those living in this stage of life, I respect you! You have chosen to cope with life until you are fed up. The question is, what will you do when you are fed up? Will you begin to thrive?

You know you are beginning to thrive when:

· You think about the past less, and talk about the future more.

· You think about doing more, and maybe even talk about it more.

· You think about the possibility of doing more, and being more.

· Your thinking turns into doing, and you enjoy it.

· You begin to flourish, just a little, and want that feeling a little more.

· You smile a little more often, and even find your laugh again.

· You begin to wonder “what if”, and make a plan or two to start.

This is when getting out of bed is just a little bit easier. Maybe not every day, but more days than not. You are no longer coping, you are starting to grow some roots and begin to harvest a beautiful bloom. In order to see this bloom in full blossom, you need to thrive and this is when you WANT to thrive!

You know you are thriving when:

· You live day by day with ease and think about the future with excitement!

· You enjoy and respect the relationship you have with yourself!

· You smile – a lot!

· You make others smile and want to be near you!

· Your personal and professional relationships are strong and many!

· You are successful!

· You radiate and shine with positivity!

· You make sound decisions and enjoy the challenge!

· You are happy and at peace!

The Million Dollar Condom Project

Through the innovations in the scientific community, it is now possible for people to have as much sexual pleasure as they want. Now, people don’t have to worry about getting pregnant or contracting HIVs and other sexually transmitted diseases. Some of the birth control options that promote safe sex are pills and condoms.

Condoms are the cheapest and most convenient form of birth control in the market. There is no age requirement to be able to buy one. Now, people can even choose to buy condoms online. But even with these advantages, some people still won’t buy a condom, exposing themselves to risks carried out by unprotected sex. With this, the Bill Gates Foundation has launched a contest for the redesign and development of the best condom in the market.

Here are some of the ideas that made it into phase one. They were given a $100,000 grant for the research and development. The best idea will grab a staggering amount of $1 million.

Aside from the sensation one can get from using a condom, this project also prioritizes ease of use. Developed by a company in South America, the proponents want a condom that can be worn with just a single thug after taking it out of the wrapper.

There are many comments about condoms online and most of them are about how guys don’t want to use them because the sensation is reduced. Lakshminarayanan Ragupatin from a company in India would like to address this by developing a thinner and warmer condom. This can be done by incorporating graphene, a new super strong and conductive material, into the product. This will create a more natural sensation due to the thinner walls, which improves the amount of body heat transfer.

The Cambridge Design Partnership from United Kingdom is doing their best to come up with a dynamic, universal fit, and low-cost condom. The unique thing about their product is that while using the condom during intercourse, the multiple polymers in it will tighten around the sex organ. This aims to maximize pleasure for both partners.

Among those that made the cut is California Family Health Council’s great idea. Their concept is to make a condom that is as thin as possible without losing its durability. They are trying out polyethylene, which will cling over the surface rather than squeeze itself. Sensation is therefore heightened.

Which among these ideas do you think will make the cut? Which will make people buy condoms not only for marketing purposes but for the promotion of safe sex? While the search is still on to find the next generation condom, don’t be careless and always have a pack stashed in your purse. As the saying goes, prevention is always better than cure.

A Basic Methodology on Ways to Increase Energy

Walking around will get the blood pumping in the body and cause the energy resources to activate. Promoting the cardiovascular system is critical for having a balanced energy flow throughout the body. Thus, whenever free time arises, just walk outside, possibly around the neighborhood. Choosing to walk when energy levels are low requires a light snack and water beforehand. Consequently, the feeling of rejuvenation will arise afterwards and begins preparedness in order to invest the vigor towards anything. Professionals recommend walking about; therefore, try walking around the local track to clear the mind and refresh the body.

With that said, taking breaks also produces convenient paths to gain energy, especially if training as an athlete. Whenever a dragging state develops, travel to a vending machine and purchase a bottle of water, particularly if one has a desk job the office should supply everyone with an accessible machine in their lobby. Do not overwork, for energy will diminish quickly, resulting in poor efforts later on. Mainly, the people who work with their larger muscle groups will need to eat plenty during the day. Furthermore, breathing fresh air for the respiratory system allows oxygen to also travel to the brain and replenish parts of the body, further promoting proper vitamin and nutrient processing. Occasionally unwinding benefits one’s overall health and improves their mood throughout one’s daily activities.

Therefore, a restful night’s sleep remains as one of the most important factors in maintaining positive energy levels. Sleeping well will ensure fuel for tomorrow. Adults need to obtain 8 hours of sleep while sleeping wearing comfortable clothing inside an air-conditioned environment. Moreover, sleeping in the dark allows one to slowly fall asleep and remain passive for the brain’s nighttime allocation of nutrients. Caffeine and electronics before bed will cause restlessness when trying to find relaxation. Therefore, ensuring enough sleep guarantees a fresh start for the day ahead and also gives the body needful downtime.

Thus, here are ways how one can easily increase their energy levels with a few changes throughout the day. Walk around a bit, this will circulate better blood flow within the body, and through walking outside, the sunlight will provide a natural resource of vitamin D. Recline whenever a feeling of fatigue originates. This will clear the mind and refresh the body, making the day brighter again. A quiet night’s sleep promotes a healthier distribution of cells in the body in comparison to disturbed sleep. Sleeping will replenish the body and prime the mind for the day ahead. These tips should boost energy when and where the situation to feel better arises.

Here’s A Question – What Relieves Sciatica?

Save your relationships I hear you say! Yes, that’s right. For one thing I’ve discovered is, left untreated, sciatica not only affects you, it affects those close to and around you too.

Thankfully, I’ve never suffered with sciatica (touch wood), but my wonderful girlfriend and partner has.

Seeing her constantly suffer and struggle with the pain made me feel sad. But after a while, the constant sleepless nights where she would be tossing and turning because of the discomfort would leave us both feeling tired and drained in the morning.

Not exactly what you want before starting a day’s work!

So, my girlfriend being Thai has several friends that practice Thai massage and pressure point therapy. They shared with us stretches and acupressure massage that, if practiced daily, really helped to relieve my girlfriend’s sciatica pain.

What we discovered was a three-step process towards relieving sciatica and lower body pain.

Many fellow sufferers have since asked me: “what relieves sciatica?”

With that in mind allow me to share this three-step process with you.

We were shown specific stretches that target certain muscles along with the sciatic nerve itself. Daily stretching not only helps relieve sciatica, it also keeps your spine fluid and flexible.

When stretching it’s important to keep things balanced. What I mean by this is after completing one particular stretch you need to follow-up with an opposite stretch.

For example, when stretching the spine in one direction follow-up by stretching your spine in the opposite direction.

Two stretches I like to do every morning to start my day is the “cat stretch” followed with the “cobra stretch.” This ensures my spine is stretched in opposite directions keeping it balanced, fluid and flexible.

One common cause of sciatica is piriformis syndrome. This is a small muscle buried deep within our buttocks and it sure hurts if it gets damaged or inflamed. It’ll put pressure on your sciatic nerve and you’ll feel a stabbing pain in your buttocks and back of legs.

If piriformis syndrome is causing your sciatica then you’ll need to stretch this tiny muscle.

Taken from yoga, the “pigeon pose” or stretch is ideal for stretching the piriformis muscle as well as opening your hips and loosening your lower body.

Acupressure Therapy

This was the eastern secret my girlfriend’s friends shared with us. Manipulating and massaging certain pressure points really helped to relieve her sciatica pain, especially when used in conjunction with stretching exercises.

We tend to turn a blind eye to this type of therapy in the west but acupressure has been practiced for thousands of years in the far east. And the beauty of this is, you can do this alone in the privacy of your own home.

I used to have my doubts but I’m happy to say I’m a firm believer now.

“You are what you eat.” Food is probably the most underrated therapy in the western world.

After seeing what my Thai friends eat everyday I now realize why they always appear healthy and look younger than they really are.

They always eat foods that are known to combat inflammation and boost our immune systems.

Every Thai meal comes packed with spices including chili, turmeric, garlic and ginger along with leafy greens. If you add these to your daily diet you really don’t need a medicine cabinet!

Nature gives us everything we need, it’s all too easy to overlook that in today’s world.

So, Back To Our Question – What Relieves Sciatica?

Well put simply, nature does!

I know sciatica can be debilitating but you really don’t have to keep popping pills everyday to stop your pain. Do things the way nature intended and you can’t go too far wrong.
